The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Chemistry was established on August 18, 2023, by the order of the university rector. Since February 25, 2026, the department has been headed by Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PhD), recipient of the “Do‘stlik” Order, and Excellence in Healthcare award holder Ollokul Isoqovich Khudoyberdiyev, who currently serves as the head of the department.

At the department, bachelor students are trained in the following educational programs: 60910200 – General Medicine, 60910300 – Pediatrics, 60910100 – Dentistry, and 60910700 – Pharmacy (by specialization).

Currently, 34 professors and teachers of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Chemistry deliver lectures and practical classes to students of the Faculty of Medicine. Among them, 27 are full-time staff members with academic degrees, including 5 Doctors of Sciences (Professors) and 22 Candidates of Sciences (Associate Professors). In addition, the department employs 4 senior teachers and assistant instructors who have many years of pedagogical experience. Furthermore, 3 practicing specialists are also involved on a part-time and hourly basis.

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Chemistry pays great attention to establishing cooperation with higher education institutions both in the country and abroad, as well as to improving students’ professional skills through classes conducted using interactive teaching methods. In addition, the department’s specialists are taking advantage of opportunities to exchange experience with foreign and local professors in order to improve their professional and pedagogical skills. This process contributes greatly to scientific-practical, pedagogical, and professional development not only for students but also for the department’s specialists.

The use of interactive methods in the department helps develop students’ thinking abilities and encourages them to actively participate in problem solving. These methods play an important role in preparing students for practical work, strengthening their knowledge, and developing critical thinking skills. In addition, the department aims to improve the quality of higher education through cooperation in scientific research and practical activities.

The main areas of activity of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Chemistry include training highly qualified medical personnel in order to improve the quality of medical care provided to the population and participating in the improvement of the structure of the healthcare system. The educational process is enriched with new content through the wide introduction of advanced educational technologies. The department also ensures that future medical specialists acquire practical clinical skills while studying. In training medical personnel, advanced domestic and international experience is taken into account, systematized, and introduced into the system of higher medical education in the Republic.
