The department was established on the basis of the order of the rector of the university No. 10 of August 18, 2022.
A total of 7 professors and teachers, including 3 docents, 2 senior teachers, 2 assistants work at the department. From October 3, 2022, doctor of science in economics Khalilov Sirojiddin Sherali ugli has been working as the head of the department.
The main tasks of the department's team are to prepare advanced bachelors and masters in the field of tourism, to conduct educational, methodological and research work. Students' debate club is operating within the department. In addition, there are overall 2 bachelor's degree directions and 1 master's degree specialty at the department.
