The main goal of the Department is to increase the scientific potential of the university by preparing Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Doctor of Science (DSc), establishing research work on the priorities of the republic in order to further develop the country’s science.

During its existence, the Department  performs the following tasks:

- coordination of research work carried out by university professors and teachers in departments, and control over the proper maintenance of working documentation;

- work in collaboration with deans of faculties, heads of departments, leading professors and young scientists throughout the year to participate in fundamental and applied research, competitions of innovative projects;

- Organization of scientific and practical conferences, training seminars, master classes at the international, republican, university levels for professors, basic doctoral students, doctoral students, research interns, independent researchers, graduate students and senior students;

-develop a plan for the admission of basic doctoral students, doctoral students, research interns and independent researchers;

- ensure that the topics of doctoral dissertations of the basic doctoral student, doctoral student, research intern and independent researchers correspond to the areas of fundamental and practical, innovative projects carried out according to the priorities of the republic, as well as scientific projects carried out under an economic contract;

- ensure timely certification of basic doctoral students, doctoral trainees and independent researchers in accordance with their annual work plans;

- support in the work of teaching staff, basic doctoral students, doctoral students, research interns and independent researchers in carrying out scientific research and scientific and technical developments and implementing their results in practice;

- Organization of qualifying examinations for basic doctoral students, doctoral students, research trainees and independent researchers;

- Organization of sending young scientists to leading foreign higher educational institutions, scientific centers in their scientific fields for internships and business trips;

 -monitoring the results of research work of professors and teaching staff 4 times a year.
