"Alfraganus University" Educational and Methodological Department

A bachelor's department at Alfraganus University has been launched since 2022. 4493 full-time students, 189 evening students, 3649 part-time students; 2497 full-time students, 180 evening students in the 2nd year of the bachelor's department , 3406 people in the form of part-time education; in the form of full-time education in the 3rd year 956 people, 141 people in the form of evening education, 3446 people in the form of part-time education; 764 people in the form of full-time education in the 4th year, 25 people in the form of evening education, 1750 people in the form of part-time education, and these students are being taught according to 38 specialties. Training of bachelors in these specialties is entrusted to 17 departments.

Alfraganus University was named Alfraganus after the Uzbek encyclopedist Ahmad Al-Farghani. Al-Farghani was known by this name in Europe, and one of the craters on the moon was also named after him. The university has its own hospital. The university also has an international scientific journal and a student newspaper. Experienced professors teach students at the university. Alfraganus University has established cooperative relations with about 20 developed countries of the world, in particular with higher education institutions. In particular, it is currently working effectively in cooperation with America, Turkey, Japan, China, and Korea. A one-time rector's scholarship and "Al-Fargani" scholarship, badge for creative and inventive students were established at the university. Grants are allocated to the most active and enterprising students, and students who have studied exemplary for one year are exempted from paying the contract for the next year.

The Academic and Methodological Department (hereinafter referred to as the "Department") is a structural unit responsible for organizing educational activities based on state educational standards, academic and working curricula, model and working programs for subjects, and course syllabi, which are developed and approved considering the modern requirements of Uzbekistan's socio-economic development and the experience of universities in foreign countries with advanced educational systems.

Main Tasks of the Academic and Methodological Department

The Academic and Methodological Department organizes the educational process in accordance with the established and approved state educational standards, academic and working curricula, model and working programs for subjects, and course syllabi. Based on these, it develops class schedules and ensures their full implementation by all faculties and departments.

It coordinates the activities of faculties, departments, and other structural units involved in the educational process.

It continuously works on improving state educational standards, curricula, subject programs, and syllabi for each field of study and master's degree specialization, considering the experience of developed countries and contemporary requirements. Additionally, during the implementation of regulatory documents in the educational process, it identifies ineffective norms and prepares relevant recommendations and proposals for their improvement.

In collaboration with departments and deanships, it ensures the application of the existing assessment system, monitors the quality of teaching, and tracks student academic performance.

It studies, analyzes, and integrates modern information and pedagogical technologies, as well as practical experiences applied in the country and abroad, into the educational process.

  • It ensures that course papers, graduation qualification papers, and master's dissertations are dedicated to deepening sectoral reforms, democratizing society, and addressing other pressing issues related to the country's development strategy. Additionally, it monitors that these works are based on real case studies of specific enterprises.
  • In collaboration with faculties and departments, it reviews and submits working curricula, subject syllabi, textbooks, teaching manuals, and other educational-methodological documents for recommendation or approval to the Academic-Methodological Council and the University Council.
  • It oversees the provision of students with curricula and other educational-methodological materials by the departments.
  • It examines and plans the distribution of teaching workloads assigned by university faculty members and reviews the faculty staffing schedule.
  • Based on the time standards, the amount of educational, methodological, scientific-research and organizational-methodical works that the professors, heads of departments and faculty deans of the university must perform during the academic year, and determines its content and submits it to the University Council for approval.
  • It monitors the implementation of planned teaching workloads in departments and formalizes the documentation of part-time faculty members.
  • It reviews and accepts the annual reports of departments and faculty members, participating in the preparation of the university’s overall annual report.
  • It organizes open lessons to facilitate experience-sharing between full-time and part-time faculty members.
  • It implements measures to integrate the decisions of the University Council and the Academic-Methodological Council into the educational process.
  • It plans all organizational tasks related to state exams in specialized subjects and the defense of master's dissertations. It prepares the necessary documents for the organization of the State Attestation Commission (SAC), distributes them to university units, deanships, and departments, supervises SAC operations, ensures timely completion of SAC reports, and requires their submission to the Academic and Methodological Department.
  • It manages the academic-methodological activities of faculty vice-deans for academic affairs, department administrators, and deanship secretaries, overseeing their documentation processes and adherence to labor discipline.
  • It organizes seminars to enhance the qualifications of faculty members in modern pedagogical and information technologies, as well as foreign languages.
  • It continuously monitors the academic-methodological activities of university departments and faculty deanships, providing recommendations for improvement and presenting them for discussion at the University Council and Academic-Methodological Council meetings.
  • It compiles and maintains a record of university academic buildings and classrooms.
  • It organizes and maintains lists of academic course groups and subjects at the university.
  • It compiles and maintains records of academic years, assessment systems, grading types, rating records, class schedules, and examination lists.
  • It compiles and maintains statistical data on university students and faculty members.
  • It organizes remedial courses for undergraduate and master's students with academic debts to allow them to retake and complete their studies.
  • It arranges students' industrial, qualification, and other types of internships.
  • It develops methodological guidelines for organizing and conducting internships and ensures that responsible parties submit internship reports.
  • It continuously monitors the proper documentation of students’ personal records in the deanship, rating reports, and other related documents.
  • It supervises the management of the educational process and all related activities within the “HEMIS” system.
